Setting up with an AI coding agent? Paste this page's URL into your agent and say: "Set up the Evergreen MCP server using the instructions at this URL." The steps below are written so an agent can follow them.
- Confirm Evergreen is installed:
ls /Applications/EvergreenCRM.app. If it is missing, ask the user to install Evergreen from the App Store and open it once. - Confirm the bundled server exists:
ls "/Applications/EvergreenCRM.app/Contents/MacOS/evergreen-mcp.app/Contents/MacOS/evergreen-mcp". Do not continue until this file exists. - Ask which MCP client the user runs: Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, or another stdio client. Default to Claude Desktop.
- Install the server definition below under the key
evergreen-crm, using the client-specific steps on this page. - Restart the client, then call
search_contactswith an empty query to confirm the connection.
Server definition
Every client uses the same command with no arguments.
{
"command": "/Applications/EvergreenCRM.app/Contents/MacOS/evergreen-mcp.app/Contents/MacOS/evergreen-mcp",
"args": []
}Client setup
Claude Desktop
Open Claude Desktop, go to Settings → Developer → Edit Config, and merge this into claude_desktop_config.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"evergreen-crm": {
"command": "/Applications/EvergreenCRM.app/Contents/MacOS/evergreen-mcp.app/Contents/MacOS/evergreen-mcp",
"args": []
}
}
}Save, quit Claude Desktop with ⌘Q, and reopen it. evergreen-crm should show as connected.
Claude Code
claude mcp add evergreen-crm -- /Applications/EvergreenCRM.app/Contents/MacOS/evergreen-mcp.app/Contents/MacOS/evergreen-mcp
Run /mcp inside Claude Code to confirm it is connected.
Cursor
Open Cursor Settings → MCP → Add new MCP server, or add the mcpServers block above to ~/.cursor/mcp.json.
Other MCP clients
Any client that supports the stdio transport works. Point it at the command above with empty arguments.

Claude skills
For ready-made workflows like meeting prep, follow-up drafts, warm introductions, and weekly reviews, install the open-source Evergreen skills for Claude. There are 18 skills, packaged in five bundles.
Troubleshooting
The server isn't found
Run ls /Applications/EvergreenCRM.app/Contents/MacOS/ and confirm evergreen-mcp.app is there. If you installed Evergreen somewhere other than /Applications, update the command path.
search_contacts returns nothing
Open Evergreen once so its data store is created. The MCP server reads the same store as the app.
Changes from your agent don't appear in the app
Press ⌘R in Evergreen to refresh.
The MCP server is part of the Mac app. The iPhone and iPad apps don't run one.
